Books – Made in Qatar: Children Book Authors Workshop with Ute Krause
Qatar National Library (QNL) in collaboration with Goethe-Institute Gulf Region and Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, cordially invite Qatari children’s book authors to participate in “Books - Made in Qatar” workshop, which comes as part of Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture.
The workshop aims to foster the development of Qatari children’s literature in Arabic, and will be conducted by Ute Krause, one of Germany’s best-known children’s and young adults’ book authors. Participants will be given the opportunity to work with Ute Krause on their story lines and book projects, discuss problems and challenges of writing for children and exchange ideas in a friendly and supportive environment. In a subsequent workshop, Qatari illustrators will be invited to illustrate the texts which were created in the writers’ workshop. The results will be presented to the public at the Doha International Book Fair in December 2017. Selected children’s books created in the workshop will be considered for publication through Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press.
The workshop is open to Qatari children’s book authors already working on a book project. Admittance will be based on the submission of a short synopsis of the book project.
